You can also choose what happens to the file after the data has been entered. Select an option from the Action to perform after processing file(s) list.
Delete file
Deletes the text file after all data has been processed. If you choose this option, make backup copies of your text file before running tests on the template.
Move file to folder
Moves the processed text file to the folder you specify.
Rename file
Renames the processed file by appending the text you specify to the existing file name.
If you choose to rename the file and want to make the file name unique (in the case where the original text file name is always the same), it is possible to do so by creating the template in the File Import Wizard and then editing it in the Template Wizard. On step 5 of the Template Wizard, find the formula that appends “.old” to the filename, and replace ".old" with a formula that creates a unique ending for the filename. For example, to append the current date/time to the file name, replace ".old" with the formula
Format Now, " yyyymmddhhnnss"
Note: Selecting this option when processing multiple files as filename.* may produce unexpected results. To process multiple files as filename.*, first select Move file to folder in the File Import Wizard, and then modify the formulas in the Template Wizard to rename the files in this new folder as you want. |
Leave file alone
Does nothing to the file after processing.
If you selected the The file to process is continuously updated check box, this option is automatically selected for you.
