Synchronizing data and note files

This topic contains information about the legacy Note Manager, which is being phased out from GainSeeker Suite. It is still available for use in version 8.3, but is being replaced by the new Note Manager function in the GainSeeker Utility module.

Synchronizing

The Note Synchronization utility ensures that the data file and the note file are synchronized. It is possible for these databases to become unsynchronized. When this happens, the data file expects a note to be associated with a specific data record, but none exists. Or the note database may have a record for which there is no corresponding data record.

To run the Note Synchronization utility, log in to the Note Manager module and click Note Sync. You will see a message describing the purpose of the program. Click the Start button.

The program will compare the data file with the note file. Any discrepancies will be identified, and if you have notes that do not have corresponding data records you will be given the opportunity to delete those notes.

We recommend that you run the Note Sync module regularly, possibly every quarter. The last screen of the program lets you set up a reminder to run the Note Sync program in a specified number of months.
