MINITAB file layout

In the MINITAB text file, tabs are used to separate columns.

The first row of the file—the header row—contains a heading for each column. The remaining rows of the file—the data rows—contain all of the records displayed in your GainSeeker table.

On the first data row in the text file, all non-numeric and non-date values are enclosed by double quotation marks ("). This includes traceability and corrective action values, outlier reasons, and entries from the Special column of the data table. The double quotation marks help MINITAB determine which columns contain numbers or dates and which contain text values.

Unavailable numeric or date values are replaced by an asterisk (*) in the text file.

Unlike the layout of most GainSeeker tables, each data row of a MINITAB text file will display only one defect count or subgroup value. Thus, one SPC data subgroup or one DMS data record will be exported to multiple rows of the MINITAB text file, where each of these rows will contain the same "Row number" identifier, part number, date/time stamp, traceability values, and corrective action values. For example, a sample with a subgroup size of three or having three defect types is exported to three rows in the text file.
