To rename a standard and copy all the data to the new standard, see the SQL Utility.
Although the SQL Utility is the recommended way to move data, a second way to transfer data is listed below.
Changing the name of a standard involves several steps:
Note: This procedure copies only the data records to the new standard name. It does not copy associated note and monitor records to the new standard name. |
Use the Import Export Manager module to export all of the data for the original standard to a .TAB, . CSV, or . QSV file format. Use the default format for data columns.
From any module where you can set up standards, duplicate the original standard to the new standard name you want to use. Do not change any of the other settings in the standard.
Use the Import Export Manager module to import the data you just exported. On the second step of the import, set the Part Number column to Empty Field (Skip). When the program prompts you to specify a standard, select the new standard you just created.
Modify all planned sessions, stored sessions, priority lists, and desktops to replace the old standard with the new standard.
(optional) When you are confident that all necessary information has been copied or replaced with the new standard name, you may delete the old standard and associated data, notes, and monitor records. As a safety precaution, you may want to archive this data before deleting the old standard and other information.
