MINITAB versions

The GainSeeker Charts and PC Collect modules work with MINITAB versions 15 - 19. By default, GainSeeker is configured to work with MINITAB version 19.

To configure your workstation for a different version of MINITAB, see Configuring GainSeeker for the correct MINITAB version.

Types of data to export to MINITAB

In the GainSeeker Charts and PC Collect modules, you can export data to MINITAB from most types of charts - including graphical charts, data tables, and statistics lists.

Methods for exporting data

There are three methods for exporting data from the GainSeeker Charts window to MINITAB. The best method to use depends on whether you have MINITAB installed on your workstation and which version you have installed. If you do not have MINITAB installed, you can still save the data in a MINITAB-compatible file format.

Workstations with MINITAB installed

With this option, GainSeeker launches MINITAB with commands to automatically open a table containing data from a GainSeeker SPC or DMS chart, statistics list, or data table. You can additionally choose which columns to display in the MINITAB table.

This option allows you to specify which columns contain data, to send specification limits and subgroup sizes from the standard, and have MINITAB automatically execute commands on the data. This option runs slower than the option detailed above.

Workstations without MINITAB installed

This option creates a MINITAB-compatible file containing the data in a GainSeeker data table you have generated or converted from a chart. You can then transfer the file to another workstation for use where MINITAB is installed.

The file name that GainSeeker creates will depend which MINITAB version your workstation is configured to use for GainSeeker:

The file name extension is *.txm .
