Several features are available when working with tables on the SQL Statement Design screen:
Add tables to the query
At minimum, an SQL statement must reference at least one table. If you need to reference fields from multiple tables, you must add each of these tables to the query. For more information on adding tables, see Adding tables to the query.
Set an alias for the table name
When presented with a table name that is long or complicated, you can set a simpler or abbreviated reference name – an alias – for this table. References to this table on the SQL Statement Design screen will now display the table's alias instead its original name. This option is available only for SELECT queries. Join tables
When creating a query that combines information from multiple tables, you can specify one or more columns that can be used to link one table to another table. For more information, see Joining tables.
View data types for columns in a table
When using columns to join tables or setting criteria for column values, it may be useful to view the underlying data types of these columns. You can display the data types of columns for any table in your query. For more information, see Displaying data types.
