Charting External Data

Charting External data allows you to perform analysis on data that is not stored in GainSeeker tables.

You may want to use this feature if your quality data is already stored in files or databases on your system and you don't want to maintain a second copy of this data in the GainSeeker tables.  If you change your mind, you may choose to store the data you are analyzing in the GainSeeker tables.

This feature also provides a convenient way to test new templates without storing test data in your GainSeeker tables.

There are two steps to charting external data:

  1. Choose how to access the external data.

  2. Perform analysis on the external data.

All of the standard features for editing data and notes and for analyzing data and printing reports are available when charting external data, except for the following:

If these features are needed, you can save the external data in GainSeeker and then delete the range of data from GainSeeker when finished.
