Refreshing a dashboard

When you open a dashboard, it displays the latest and most complete data available for the dashboard settings.

Refresh

If a dashboard has remained open on your screen for some time, you may want to check for new data that may have been entered since the moment when you first opened the dashboard.

To update the dashboard with the latest data, click the Window menu and then click Refresh. Alternately, you may press the F5 key to refresh the data.

When viewing a KPI gage dashboard that contains a File or URL item, refreshing the dashboard will also refresh the specified file or URL.

Note: If multiple dashboards are open on your screen, only the active dashboard window will be refreshed. You can click on a dashboard to make it the active window.

Complete Refresh

The Refresh command will update only those portions of a dashboard that retrieve data up to the current date and time. This includes date periods such as Today to default low, Last n records, Current week, etc.

However, this means that any dashboard columns or retrievals that get data for a date period ending in the past - such as Yesterday, Last year, etc. - will not be updated by a Refresh. This allows the Refresh to finish more quickly by avoiding a re-retrieval of data that probably has not changed since the dashboard was opened.

If you want to refresh all of the data on the dashboard - including these older retrievals - click the Window menu and then click Complete Refresh. Alternately, you may press CTRL+F5 to refresh all of the data on the dashboard.
