Storing dashboards as a Desktop

GainSeeker makes it easy for you to access the same group of dashboards over and over again.

For example, if you need to generate the same five dashboards each day or each week, you can open them one at a time and then store the whole group as a desktop. Doing this eliminates the need to open the same five dashboards individually.

To create a desktop:

  1. Create the dashboards you want to combine on the desktop.

  1. Use the Start screen or the File menu to open one of these dashboards.

  2. With the first dashboard still displayed on your screen, use the File menu to open each of the remaining dashboards.

  3. If desired, you can also create a Note window for your desktop.

  4. Position the dashboards as you want them to appear when you open the desktop.

  5. Click the Desktop menu and then click Save As.

  6. On the Save Desktop screen, enter the New desktop name.

  7. To lock the settings for this desktop, select the Lock desktop check box. When a desktop has been locked, the only users who can overwrite or delete that desktop are those who have rights to edit locked items.

When a desktop is locked, the names and locations of the desktop windows and/or the Desktop Note window are locked from being edited by users without adequate rights. However, these users can still change any unlocked dashboards that are included in this desktop.

If you do not have the right to edit locked items, this check box is unavailable and you cannot lock desktop settings, delete or overwrite a locked desktop.

To see which desktops are already locked, click the Show locked button. This will create a list of locked desktops and display this list in your editor.

  1. Click OK to finish.
