Each time you enter an individual data value, the program may performs the following checks on that data value.
The program will only perform the checks that you have specified in the standard.
Step 1: Check reasonable limits
First, the program checks this value against the reasonable limits you have set in the standard. If the data value entered falls outside the reasonable limits, the data entry program will warn you that the value is outside one of the limits, as in the example below:
Step 2: Check specification limits and individual limits
If the data value passes the reasonable limits check, then the program proceeds to specification limit and individual limit checking.
If you have entered one or more specification limits or individual limits in the standard, and if you have enabled real-time checking in the standard for spec limits and individual limits, then the program will checks the data value against these limits set in the standard.
If the value violates one or more of these limits, the program will display a failure note screen that indicates which limit was violated. For information on using the failure note screen, see Responding to real-time failures for one value.
