Viewing Charts During Data Entry

When you select a standard for data entry, a chart of the most recent data for that standard may be displayed.

Understanding the data on the chart

By default, the chart will display the last 25 data points for this standard. To change the number of data points displayed, click the Session menu, and then click Retrieval Settings.

If you need to view much older data that is no longer displayed on this screen, use the SPC Charts and Reports module to retrieve the older data. One way to access the Charts and Reports module is to click the SPC Charts button (if available) on the Data Entry tab.

Understanding the statistics calculated for the chart

The data points used to calculate the control limits on the chart are also used to calculate the statistics displayed on the Statistics tab (if available). To change the number of data points used to calculate the control limits, click the Session menu, and then click Retrieval Settings.

Data records that are retrieved with a bypass set to Include on charts and data lists only will not be used in the calculations.

If the program is configured to exclude out-of-control data points from these calculations, any out-of-control data points are excluded when statistics are calculated for your data set. By default, these excluded points are displayed on the chart as a diamond ( ).

To determine how the program is configured to display bypassed data and statistical outliers on your chart, click the Chart Options menu, and then click Legend. To view the reasons why these values are excluded from your calculations, click the Data Table tab and review the Special column of the data table.

In PDA mode , you must click the Tabs menu to access the Data Table tab. Also, the Chart Options menu and chart legend are unavailable in PDA mode.

Changing the display

To change the way the chart is displayed, right-click on the chart, or click the Chart Options menu. Then click Fonts and Colors, Display Options, Scaling, or Group Data.

de_cht_hdrs=2
