Discrete traceability values are those in which only certain values are recognized as true, such as Shift 1 or Shift 2, or numerals 3, 4, or 5, for example. Traceability values that contain alphabetical characters are always discrete.
Continuous traceability values are always numbers wherein any numeric value is recognized as true, such as values for temperature or weight measurements. Even though these values can hypothetically assume any numeric value, they tend to plot within a range.
Continuous traceability values are frequently used to track environmental or ambient variables, and they are measured along with the measured characteristic associated with a product.
The Variation Wizard and the Big Data Analytics SPC dashboard control can help you to determine whether there is correlation between environmental variables and these characteristics.
