Accessing the Tables and File Paths window

The Tables and Files Paths window is used to change file paths.

  1. If the list of tables is not displayed, click Show Tables on the Tables and File Paths window. (This button is disabled if you have not yet converted your Pervasive database from file mode to database mode.)

  2. Choose the subset of tables you want to modify:- All Tables, SPC Tables, DMS Tables, or Shared Tables. If you are not sure, select All Tables.

  3. Do one of the following, based on your needs:

To

Do this

Set up tables for a new GainSeeker configuration

  1. Click Append All... on the Tables and File Paths window.

  2. Enter text to append the name of all displayed tables, and then click OK. To make the new table names easier to read, begin with the underscore character ( _ ) .

The number of characters you can enter depends on the longest table name to which your text will be appended, and the type of database you are using. The maximum length for a table name is 20 characters for Pervasive, 30 characters for Oracle, and >60 characters for SQL Server and MySQL.

Change the name of one table

  1. Click on the name of the table for which you want to enter a new name.

  2. Click Set Name.

  3. Enter the new table name and then click OK.

  4. The number of characters you may enter depends on the type of database you are using. The maximum length for a table name is 20 characters for Pervasive, 30 characters for Oracle, and >60 characters for SQL Server and MySQL.

Most GainSeeker tables depend on the values of related tables to function properly, so be cautious when using this feature. For a list of table groups that must be modified together, see Tables and Files Used in GainSeeker 8.

The SPC Data table should correspond to a single instance of the tables for SPC Event, SPC Cause, and SPC Action Taken. Similarly, the DMS Data table should correspond to a single instance of the tables for DMS Event and DMS Master Defect List. These tables use an internal code or number to log these values, so having two configurations that point to the same data table but different corrective action tables and/or defect master list table will produce unexpected results.

  1. Repeat this process until you have changed all of the necessary table names.

Revert to the default GainSeeker table names

Click Default Names, and then click Yes.

  1. Click Check for Tables to verify that the tables and file paths exist and that the necessary files exist in the specified paths.

Then, click Run TC Utility to generate the missing folders, tables, or files before continuing. For more information, see Table Creation Utility.

  1. To finish making changes to tables and file paths, click OK on the Tables and File Paths screen.
