Adding dashboard controls to the Dashboard window

Dashboard controls help simplify statistical process control (SPC) with multiple options for displaying key process data in visual formats that can be read in a glance on the dashboard window. See The Dashboard Controls for brief descriptions and images for each control.

When you point to a toolbar button when the dashboard window is active, a tool tip window with the button name is displayed.

Adding dashboard controls to the Dashboard window

To add a dashboard control to a dashboard window:

Then, one or more dialogs will open in succession and prompt you for information to initially set your control.

For more information, see Getting started with Dashboards, Using Dashboard Controls for data retrieval, Changing the dashboard settings

Deleting dashboard controls from the dashboard window

Usually you can select a dashboard control and press the DELETE Key on your keyboard. Sometimes a dashboard control or a combination of controls causes this method of deletion to not work. If this occurs:

  1. Double-click the dashboard window or click Dashboard Designer in the Properties dialog drop-down list to select the host dashboard.

  2. Click the dashboard control name in the Properties dialog drop-down list to select that control.

  3. Then, press the keyboard DELETE key.

An informational dialog will open requesting confirmation on the deletion. Click Yes to confirm.

Adding dashboard controls while floating the toolbar

Normally the toolbar is docked to a dashboard window when it is in design/edit mode, which allows you to add a new dashboard control to the dashboard.

However, when the toolbar is not docked to the dashboard window frame, the only method for adding a new dashboard control to the dashboard window is to click a dashboard control and then drag it to a location on the dashboard window.

To undock the toolbar from the dashboard window frame so that it "floats", double-click the toolbar handle (the dots at the left-hand end of the toolbar) or click the handle and drag it to a different location.
